DESCRIPTION:
February is the month when the U.S. and Canada celebrate and remember important events in th e history of the African diaspora in those countries. This tradition goes back to 1970 and is an important part of the yearly calendar. The contribution of LGBT African-Americans is also now being remembered.
It’s not only in politics, arts and culture that Black History Month thrives. Some of the events in the calendar can surprise people who focus on those areas. For example, on February 22, African American aviation pioneers will be the focus of an event in Washington, D.C. as Southwest Airlines celebrates significant contributions that African Americans have made to flight and space exploration.
Later in March, the National Black Law Students Association will hold their Annual Conference in Millwaukee, Wisconsin. The event promotes the educational, professional, political, and social needs and goals of Black law students.
