Bacardi have implemented a long term initiative that aims to eliminate landfill waste at all of its production sites by 2022.
The Good Spirited initiative encourages employee involvement to recycle waste on the bottling lines, on the grounds, and in the offices; requirements that employees have readily met according to Jennifer Eckberg, operations development manager at Bacardi.
As part of its commitment, Bacardi is looking to obtain all raw materials and packaging from sustainably sourced, renewable or recycled materials. Bacardi is also using eco-design to reduce the weight of its brand packaging. Finally, the company pledges to reduce its water use and greenhouse gas emissions.
Bacardi began tracking its global impact in 2006 and has since reduced its non-renewable energy use by 27.7%.
