The Avista Foundation and the employees of Avista Utilities have received the “Making Spokane Better” award from the Salvation Army, in recognition of their philanthropy and volunteerism. Donations from Avista Corp. and the Avista Foundation to non-profits totaled more than $1.4 million in 2011. Avista Utilities employees volunteered more than 52,000 hours of service to more than 1,000 organizations within the company’s three-state service area.
Home Depot now offers 30 different electric car chargers that can be ordered through their virtual store. Prices of the charging stations range from $699 to $7,999, depending upon their features. In California, purchase of a new EV vehicle includes a free charger.
Energy Future Holdings and its employees have contributed $185,000 to the American Red Cross for disaster relief. The contributions are the Dallas-based company’s response to emergencies in Texas as well to Hurricane Sandy recovery efforts.
