DESCRIPTION:
Christopher Tripoli was just trying to inspire his then-12-year-old son to read some fiction when he introduced him to the books of Lloyd Alexander, a literary giant in the enchanted world of fantasy writers. Now the GSK mechanical engineer from Perkasie, Bucks County, has a mission: to get every sixth-grader in Upper Darby Township, Alexander's hometown, to read the works of the Newbery Medal and National Book Award winner.
All GSK employees recieve an annual paid day off, called "Orange Day," to volunteer. Chris has used his 6 previous Orange Days to support the 6th grade students at a local school district. He gives them a presentation on the life and work Lloyd Alexander and discusses his work and how he influenced others to use their creativity and imagination in all they do.
