Magazine honored in NAREE's 64th Annual Real Estate Journalism Awards Competition

June 20, 2014 /3BL Media/ - The National Association of Real Estate Editors (NAREE) announced the winners of its annual journalism competition during its 48th Annual Real Estate Journalism Conference in Houston on June 13. Green Builder Media's Green Builder magazine was the Gold Award Winner for the Best Residential Trade Magazine.
A panel of expert judges from the E. W. Scripps School of Journalism at Ohio University selected all award winners. Professor Emeritus Patrick S. Washburn, a former news reporter and editor, chaired the panel.
“This magazine packs a lot of information in a small space. It broke new ground by challenging readers to do better with features on living with a smaller carbon footprint and detailing environmental crises of our time," NAREE judges pointed out. "The photography helps this publication stand out.”
Green Builder magazine is led by Editor in Chief Matt Power. Others cited on the award include Juliet Grable, managing editor; Mary Kestner, production manager; and John O'Brien of O'Brien Design, art director.
"What's exciting about winning this award now is that we're breaking all the rules," Power says. "We're taking the magazine in directions that no other b2b magazines has dared—not just reporting events, but dishing out predictions about the future, with our year-long Celestia Project.
