DRW Trading will once again open its doors to an intern thanks to its partnership with the Chicago chapter of Year Up. The intern is set to begin with the firm at the end of June for a six-month internship and will work with the firm’s IT desktop support team.

DRW Trading will once again open its doors to an intern thanks to its partnership with the Chicago chapter of Year Up — an organization that aims to close the opportunity divide for young urban adults by equipping them with the skills and experience to reach their potential through education and career opportunities. The intern is set to begin with the firm at the end of June for a six-month internship and will work with the firm’s IT desktop support team.
The Year Up program – comprised of a six-month training period, followed by a six-month internship – allows students between the ages of 18 to 24 refocus their goals to pursue education or employment in a professional career that is most often technology-related. This allows them to become economically self-sufficient.
DRW employees from the desktop support team currently volunteer onsite at Year Up to train students .
Some quick stats:
- 186 Year Up alums from Chicago program
- Year Up still in contact with about 75% of those alums
- 47% of those alums are working full time (mostly in tech careers); 20 to 30% are working PT and going to school part time
- 60% of interns work on desktop support teams
DRW’s work with the Year Up program began in 2012 and the firm is committed to helping the organization and its mandate. To date, DRW has donated close to $70, 000 to Year Up.
