New Massachusetts Bill Requiring Comprehensive Energy Analysis of Public Buildings Advances

DESCRIPTION:

Senator Jamie Eldridge of Massachusetts has sponsored Bill S.1479, “An act promoting the use of total energy impact analysis.” With this bill new construction of or major renovation projects within state buildings would be required to measure the energy implications of all resources being used. Analyzing these implications enables smarter data-driven decisions about what kind of energy and materials the state procures.

Resources such as electricity, water, transportation, building materials, heating fuels, and waste all have energy and financial implications, whether they are “clean” and “renewable,” or not. Using modern data & analytic technologies everything can be translated to energy....
