DESCRIPTION:
I think that if we’re going to make real headway from a corporate point of view, I think that there needs to be more of not only talking strategy but also talking culture. I think if whether it’s a corporate organization, whether it’s a government entity, whether it’s a non-governmental organization, I believe that they’ve all probably got great sustainability strategies. What I think is lacking as I look around is that aspect of, “how do you shift the culture of whatever organization you are a part of?” To get your employees and people who work for you and who engage with a broader society to a stage where they are not only aware around the sustainability issues, but they now feel engaged, either as consumers or as members of the country or as members of the organization, but they now feel engaged to take action, maybe not be champions, but in their own way begin to take action around these whole area of living more sustainably into the future? And so therefore, I think that there is a very big role for those that influenced the culture, the behaviors in organizations, to step up and in a more active way, support partners, the specialist in the area of sustainability, so that their aspirations can be embedded in an organization. Then you get, hopefully, a fast-forwarding of some of the objectives that you have from a sustainability or sustainable living point of view.
